Birthday Card

Hi there!

Sad news...
As of Jan 1, 2014, Colorful Creations will close its doors.
I have been a DT member for over a year and had fun hosting the Song Challenge each month.  The site was up and running for 4 years... and even though I wasn't on the site for the full time, it was truly fun.
I learned a lot through challenges... and trying new techniques.  And the Design Team was fabulous!
All the best to Brenshevia, the person who founded the C.C. site.

On a much happier note...
I have a card to share with you that was submitted at Turtle Soup for their Crash Your Stash (12/18) Challenge.

The challenge is to use Chipboard.

A neutral-colored Birthday card.  Lots of layers and gold!  The sentiment is a chipboard tag.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Colorbok, White Cardstock
Ribbon
Bling: Home Made
Flower
Chipboard Sentiment
Sketch: Splitcoast Stampers (SC339)

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Hi there!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Holiday!!

I know I did!  I got a treadmill!  Woo hoo!  Now I can get some "movement" into this body during these LONG winter months!

Here's a fun layout that was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Lift Challenge (LIFT8).  You can see the challenge here.

The layout to scraplift:

And here's my layout titled, "Ho, Ho, Ho!"
This is me... dressed up as Santa during one of the many office Christmas parties!  One of my coworkers was having some fun and pretending to "cry" because Santa didn't bring her anything (but he did)!!  :)

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Other
Vinyl Shapes
String Lights
Tag Page Title
Corner Rounder
Holly Leaves
Glitter Tree Topper
Zig Zags: Hand cut
3D Ornament

I added a couple 3D ornaments in the upper right of my page.

The page title was cut from a tag and I added the holly leaves.
For the banner... I found these cute little string lights at a $ store... snipped a piece off and added these cute vinyl shapes "hanging" from it.

Lots of scrap papers were used for the tree.  It's so fun to roll these papers and create something fun!  I found this glitter tag and added it as the tree topper.

Another view of the rolled paper tree.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gift Card Holder

Hi there,

Here's a cute gift card holder that I made for Turtle Soup... their December Mini Crop - Gift Card Holder Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

I've made gift card holders... but not this one.  I love it!
Here's the gift card holder closed with knotted ribbon.

Supplies used:
Paper: American Crafts, DCWV
Flower Punch
Circle Punch
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Ribbon
Clear Sticker Sentiment

And here's a couple pics of it opened.

A closer look at the front of the card holder.  I layered two of the flower punches with a circle punch in the center and glitter gems around the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas Gift Box

Hello!!

It's STILL snowing here!  I think we have enough already!!

Yesterday I actually finished a couple projects that I really wanted to do.  This first one is a gift box which I submitted at Turtle Soup for their December Mini Crop - Gift Box Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

These are the sweetest gift boxes!  So fun to make!  The only thing that I get stumped on is how to decorate it.  I always have to think about it for awhile.

Supplies used:
Paper: American Crafts
Ribbon
Snowman Tag
Twine: American Crafts
Foam Snowflake
Holly Leaf
Glitter Gems: Home Made

I have made these before... and added embellishments on the sides too... which is pretty cool... but I decided to leave this one plain.

Here's a straight-on shot of the gift box.  I started the layering with ribbon, glitter snowflake, snowman and gems and holly leaf.  Ribbon was added at the top of the snowman tag and tied with twine.

Merry Christmas

Hi there,

Here's another layout which was also completed yesterday.  This was submitted at Sketches 4 All for their December Color Combo Challenge (CCdec).  You can see the challenge here.

The color palette:

And here's my layout titled, "Merry Christmas."
This is our grandson and I with our dogs, Max and Zoe, in front of our Christmas tree.  What a challenge it was to get a good photo with Max... our wiggle worm!!

I used only the colors from the palette above.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Distressing
Ribbon
Fiskars Border Punch
Bling & Gems: Home Made
Flowers/Leaves
Glitter Page Title
Sketch: Page Maps (Nov 2010)

Couldn't resist and added a bling heart in the upper right of my page.

I used a border punch on the red cardstock.  The page title is totally glittery... and so pretty!
All the paper edges were distressed too.

A couple flowers and leaves were added below the photo... and swirly bling too.

A closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Guess Who

Hi there,

Here's the other layout I completed yesterday that was submitted at Sketches 4 All for their December Sketch Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

This is the sketch:

And here's my layout titled, "Guess Who."
If you haven't figured out already, I love masks!  When my sister got me this beautiful mask, our daughter and I had to have some fun with it!  First she took one of me, then I took one of her.  Lots of laughs!  :)

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Kraft
Glitter Tape
Bling & Gems: Home Made
Flowers
SU Border Punch
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Ribbon
Flower Punches
Clear Sticker Letters

Gold and red flowers are gathered on the right of the photo with swirly bling.

A closer look.

Each flower punch was embossed with a snowflake folder.

Several layers of flowers and circles were added and a couple of the layers embossed before adding the page title.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Our Christmas Dog

Hi there!
Happy Thursday to you all!
It's one of those lazy days for me.  You know... one of those days where you just stay in your pj's all day?  Well, that's me today.

I completed a few layouts yesterday.  Yup, trying to get my mojo going again.  It's slow but sure.

This layout was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Cooking Up A Christmas Layout Challenge (CUCC23).  You can see the challenge here.

As well as creating a Christmas layout, you are to choose 3 or more of the elements below to add to your page:

1. Die cuts
2. Create your own Christmas tree
3. Red flower
4. Holly
5. Bling stick pins
6. Green cardstock background
7. Journal on a die cut
8. Twine
9. Red and green to be dominant colors
10. One larger photo and one smaller photo

Here's what I created.  My layout is titled, "Our Christmas Dog."
Our totally spoiled Zoe-dog, sitting in front of our tree... enduring the photo shoot I'm forcing her to partake in!!  She's so funny!

And here's what I used on my page, from the list above:
1. Create your own Christmas tree
2. Red flower
3. Holly
4. Red and green as dominant colors

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Ribbon
Glitter Foam Presents
Felt Tree
Flowers
Holly Leaves
Sticker Letters
Gold Letters: Dear Lizzy Thickers
Home Made Bling
Sketch: Page Maps (Nov 2010)

A holly leaf was added in the upper left of the photo.

I used a combo of letters for the page title.... the gold letters are Thickers and regular square letter stickers.

The tree was hand cut from felt and little ornaments added on it using a hold punch.  The presents are glitter foam.

Red ribbon goes through the center of my page.  This is my flower cluster, with one red flower.  And to "spiff" it up a bit more, I added some swirly bling.

A closer look at the tree, bling and presents.
