Seizing The Moment

Hello,

Finally created a card for the Soul Scrappers Challenge... Using Washi Tape on a card (CC28).

Ahhhhhh!  New papers from DCWV!  And surprisingly I had washi tape that matched it perfectly and created the strips on the background.  The sentiment was added with pop dots and I made the glitter gems in the flower centers.

A closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  :)

What It Takes

Hello!

I think nice weather has FINALLY come to our area!  Yay!
We need less rain and more sun though... just saying...

Here's a photo that I've been waiting and waiting for the right opportunity to scrap.  Well, Soul Scrappers has a Song/Lyric Challenge (SLC33) going on right now... and when I saw these words from the lyrics (What It Takes), I knew this was perfect for my photo!  Hop on over there to check it out!

The song is by Mindy Gledhill and here are the lyrics:

"Whole Wide World"

I’m gonna walk a hundred miles
I’m gonna whistle all the while
If that’s what it takes to make me smile
I’m gonna walk a hundred miles

I’m gonna run right up this hill
Summer sky or winter chill
If I gotta take a break I will
But I’m gonna run right up this hill

I wanna hold the whole wide world
Right here in my open hands
Maybe I’m just a little girl
A little girl with great big plans

I’m gonna go and take a chance
I’m gonna learn to ballet dance
Learn a little something ‘bout romance
I’m gonna go and take a chance

I’m gonna live a crazy dream
Impossible as it may seem
Doesn’t matter what the future brings
I’m gonna live a crazy dream

[Chorus]

You tell me, “don’t try it”
I’m warning you that I won’t buy it
All failure is fleeting
I trust it always has its meaning

[Chorus]

This is my layout titled, "She's Got What It Takes."
My daughter is on the far right.  She definitely has what it takes!  So proud of her!

Part of the background was misted using a stencil.  The glitter letters are Dear Lizzy Thickers and the bling and glitter gems are home made.  Sketch is Page Maps (Aug 2010).

Four different fibers were strung across the center of the page.  Tiny letters complete the rest of my page title.

And here's my cluster of flowers and bling.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I do hope you will stop by Soul Scrappers and join in on the fun!  :)

Bloom

Hi there!
It's been awhile!
I'm in one of those scrappy slumps... Ugh!

I did manage to complete this layout for the Turtle Soup Thursday Scraplift (5/1) Challenge.  It was on my desk for a week before I finally managed to finish it!

This is the layout to scraplift:
March mini crop - recipe (Just Adorable)

And here's my "Bloom" layout:
My beautiful daughter...

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Ribbon
Flowers
Wood Flower: Kaiser Craft
Glitter Flower Brads: Pebbles Inc.
Die Cut Quote: Paper Pizazz
Sticker Bracket: We R Memory Keepers

A sticker bracket was added on the right side of the quote and a cute flower brad just above the page title.

A variety of flowers are clustered below the photo.

Sunshine Card

Hello!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I am hosting a fairly new challenge at Soul Scrappers called Mark Your Calendar (MYC5).
The current challenge is celebrating MAY 3, which is National Sun Day.

And the challenge is to use a sun OR the word "sun" or "sunshine" on your project.

Here's the card I created:
All the edges were distressed and I added a little embossing on the plain cardstock.
A half sun sticker was tucked just under the sentiment.

A closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

#Girls

Hi there!

Yay!  I found out there was actually going to be a scrapbooking convention this past weekend!  So, that's where I was Saturday.  Not a lot of booths... but I still found some cool scrappy stuff!  (All smiles)!

Do you love challenges?
Well, have I got a deal for you!
I'm hosting a Quote Challenge (QC36) at Soul Scrappers and hope you join the site (it's FREE) and play along with us.  I'm also offering a prize to one random winner.  :)

Here's my quote for this round:

"Be a girl with a mind,
A woman with an attitude
And a lady with class."
-Author Unknown

Isn't this a cool quote?  I immediately thought of the photos that my sister took of my niece and I goofing off before our meal arrived.

This is my layout titled, "#Girls."
Totally hilarious watching my niece try to make the "fish lips!"  Man did I laugh!  I don't even know how I showed her how to do this... because you cannot laugh and do the fish lips at the same time!  Trust me, I know!  :)

Here's the right side of my page.

I found a scrap piece of lace and adhered it to the back of the chipboard heart and then trimmed around the edges.  The heart was misted with a pearl mist.

Some of the papers were also misted.  Washi tape was added along the left of the photo and a small strip above the photo.

A closer look at the #word!  This one was heavily misted with pearl mist also.
The lace flower was fussy cut from the remainder of the lace.

The embossed pp was lightly brushed with ink to enhance the raised portions.  A border punch was used along the edges in a couple spots.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Flower Card

Hello!

We can all use "all occasion" cards, right?

This card was submitted at Turtle Soup for their NSD Recipe Challenge.  You can see the info here.

The background was embossed.  A flower was cut from the pp and shaped for dimension with a brad in the center.

A closer look at the flower.

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Memories

Hi there!

Here's one of my fave layouts (I have a LOT of favorites) for the Turtle Soup DT Sketch Reveal (May 5).

The sketch:
Image

And my layout titled, "Memories."
Lynn and Dylan on her graduation from basic training.  We walked along the River Walk in Texas and had an awesome time!

All the pearl looking gems are home made... as well as the swirly bling.

I made the white satin rosette and added a smaller paper flower in the center.  The flowers were misted and liquid pearls were dabbed along the edges.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Make A Wish!

Yup!  Another card!

This one was entered for the Turtle Soup NSD Challenge - You've Been Framed.

Here's a fun, definitely girly card!  I layered the punched border.  The frame and sentiment are chipboard.  The butterflies were cut from the ribbon and adhered above the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's A Good Day

Hey!

Today is a good day!  Yay!  So this card seems very appropriate! :)

I made this card for the Turtle Soup NSD Mini Crop Challenge:
This card could be for any occasion.
