Good Times

Hello!
Me again with another project created for Soul Scrappers.
It's a Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  How fun is that, right?

With such a variety to choose from on the board, you can have so much fun!
Choose a row, a couple rows or the whole board to create your project!

My layout is called "Good Times."
It's a phrase that my SIL uses often!  :)
I had so much fun with this layout... adding all sorts of layers and embellies tucked here and there until I was satisfied with the final touches.  Love how it turned out!

This is my SIL and I in front of the Hard Rock Cafe.  We were taking a break from sight seeing and shopping... and now it was time to EAT!

Before I go further, this is the TTT board:

I chose the row: Layering, Butterflies, Wood.

The background was misted, just through the center of my page.
I used a bit of stenciling with Gesso randomly.

Various tags and embellies were used here and there.

The wood embellies are tucked under the flowers (hexagons) on the upper left of this photo and on the far right (banners).  They were brushed with metallic watercolors.  The two larger flowers are my creations.  The pp hexagons were cut from pp.

A bird die cut is on the upper left of the photo.
Lots of layers peeking out from behind the photo.

A sticker was added in the lower right of the page.

One butterfly in the upper right of the photo.
This shows the other side of the loop of flowers below the photo.
All the flowers were brushed with metallic watercolors and bling was tucked throughout.

Here, you get a better look at the wood banners tucked under the flowers.

Another embellie new to my stash that fit perfectly on my page.
And you can see parts of the wood hexagons.

Here's the other butterfly on the upper left of my page.

A few close ups for you.

I hope you enjoyed my layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Till next time,

It Only Takes One Person...

Hi!

How do you like mixed media?  Is it something you always wanted to try, but are unsure where to begin?
There are so many variations of mixed media.  It all comes down to what YOU like... and how creative and messy you want to get.

I was always intrigued by mixed media projects.  I absolutely LOVE the process, all the items used, the creative way they use specific items as well as the finished project.  It always seems to come together flawlessly.

So, every once in awhile, I feel like, "I can do this."  I get out all the supplies I might like to use.... and then I'm "stuck" with where to begin.  Do I do this first?  Do I add this last?
I overthink....
When all I really need to do is START... then let the process flow....

Easier said than done right?  Well, it is.... once you get started.  But you have to "start" first!

So get out those supplies and start letting those juices flow!
I would love to see your projects!  Just add them in the comments below.

This is my Art Journal page created for Soul Scrappers.  It's a NEW challenge called "PhiloSOULphy" that uses wise words from authors, poets, etc. from lands and centuries past and present and those who dream of a better world.

You can create a layout, canvas, off the page item or use a journal.

You're free to do anything (sketch, stickers, embellies, paint, Gesso, mists, pencils, etc.).  There is no right or wrong... just make art any way you want!  It doesn't necessarily have to be all mixed media.... just get down and crafty!  :)

So what are you waiting for?  Head on over to Soul Scrappers, sign up (for Free) and check out all that this awesome site has to offer!

A quote is provided for you to use on your project.

The quote reads, "It only takes one person to change your life... YOU"
So true, don't you think?

I started with a white wash for my background as well as several mists.

Metallic watercolor was brushed along the edges of the quote and a "You" 3D embellie was used for as the last word in the quote.

Flowers were added and each one was brushed with metallic watercolor (I absolutely love these watercolors)!

Before the background dried, I added various fussy cut flowers and leaves which is also my background.  These were also white washed.... to blend into the background, but also give some dimension. I did try to outline the flowers and leaves with a marker, then decided I didn't want to do the whole background that way.  So, I have a half-and-half thing going on.  :)

Another look at the flowers... with some shimmer from the watercolors.  Bling was added in the centers and also brushed to tone them down a bit.

And there you have it... my art journal page.

My previous page (for March) was dark... ewwwww.... so I really wanted to create a fun, bright page for this month.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you enjoyed my project.

Oh.... and don't forget to add your projects in the comments below.  I would love to see them!

Till next time,

"Friends" Card

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Did you do anything fun?  Do tell... I would love to hear it!

It's a sunny Sunday morning and I have several projects completed for challenges now live at Soul Scrappers.  Why not check them out?  All you have to do is sign up (which is Free) and then you will have complete access to the site.  You can check out all the inspiration in our Gallery as well as the variety of challenges too!

My first post is a card made specifically for Soul Scrappers.  It's a Card Challenge... and all you have to do is create a card using the word "FRIEND(S)."

Here's my card using the quote, "That's What Friends Are For"
Lovin how this card turned out, with lots of layers!

Each layer was white-washed with watered down Gesso as well as misted.
Gesso was brushed along the bling also... to "tone it down" a bit.

The lace was also misted and brushed with mixed media.

The flowers were brushed with metallic watercolors and maybe misted too (I forget).

Here's a better look at the flowers.  They were solid, bright colors, but by adding watercolors and mists to them, they seem to match the rest of the card now.  The leaves were also brushed to down them down.

And that's my card!
I hope you enjoyed my post.

Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  They go by way to fast these days!

I have a layout to share, created for Soul Scrappers.
It's a Sketch Challenge that I'm hosting.  I provide the sketch, you create your layout... easy as that.
And, a prize will be awarded to one lucky winner at the end of the challenge.  Deadline for entries into our Gallery ends May 3rd, so you have LOTS of time to get those wheels turning and have fun creating.  You can see all the info for my challenge here.

Who doesn't love sketches?  They take the thinking out of so much.... so you have more time to CREATE!  It's a win/win!  :)

This was a very fun layout to create, using lots of squares and embellies scattered everywhere.
This is my SIL and I at the Miami Mall.  And it was an awesome hot day... totally loved it!

This is the sketch:
Let your imagination run wild with this sketch!
Here are a few ideas I thought of that you could use:
Instead of pp squares... use fabric, burlap or plain papers you could emboss.  How about trying some mixed media with this sketch?  You could add stitching with your machine or faux stitching.  And the thin strips could be ribbon or lace.

Here are a few close ups of my layout...
The die cuts were fussy cut from the pp.  Aren't they cute?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope my layout inspired you.

Paris

Hello all!  The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day!
Already we are into April!  Time flies!

I have a layout to share doing something a little different and getting a little messy!
This was created for Soul Scrappers.  The NEW challenge is called "Double Delight" (double page sketches).  It runs until March 30th.  You can see all the info here.

If you are not a member of Soul Scrappers, it's really easy to join and it's FREE.  Then you have access to tons of inspiration and creative ideas!

Now, here is my double layout titled, "Paris"

Left side...

Right side...

This is the sketch:

The whole background was white washed using watered down Gesso.
While the upper portion was still wet, I sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and used my heat gun.

A couple butterflies were punched using black glittery cardstock.

Tags were misted and rub ons added randomly.  Velveteen ribbon was stapled to the top of each tag.

Misting with stencils were used randomly.

Three layers of lace goes across the top of the page, which were also misted and stenciled.
Sequins were also added.

A rub on I found in my stash... perfect for below one of the photos.

A strip of lace was placed over the top of the scallop border.
I love that I was able to find 3D embellies to match my photos!!

The Eiffel Tower 3D embellie with a little bling!

A closer look at the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope my layout inspired you.
