Moments Worth Remembering

Hello,

It's been FOREVER since I participated in ARTastic Challenges!  I couldn't resist working on a layout for this month's challenge!  I had the perfect photo... and the perfect colored papers!

You can see the ARTastic Challenge here.

The inspiration photo:
MARCH inspiration Lyn Butchart with Bluebirds

Extra Criteria:  TEXTURE

And here's my layout titled, "Moments Worth Remembering."
Lynn and I last Thanksgiving chatting with Andrew on the phone!  We were having such a great time chatting and laughing... and I couldn't resist a selfie photo of us!  :)

I was inspired, obviously, all the blues and birds.  Lots of texture was used too!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Various Paints
Cheesecloth
Flowers
Bling: Home Made
Ribbon
Chipboard Birds
Darice Embossing Folder
Clear Sticker
Sketch: Page Maps (Feb 2010)

The clear sticker was matted on cardstock with birds and flowers around it.  The glittery cardstock was embossed for added texture.

The background was created by adding various paints onto plastic wrap, then I misted it with water and pressed the cardstock onto the paints.  It's pretty messy... but pretty cool too!  And different effects can be created by simply lifting the cardstock off the paint mixture at different angles.  For example... if you lift it straight off the paints... then you get more of a splotched background... but if you lift the cardstock off from one side... it creates a smearing, shadowy effect... which can be pretty neat.
I had to add bling under the photo.

Rather than add the ribbon straight across the page... I looped it a few times for more texture.  It's hard to see, but cheesecloth was tucked under the dark blue cardstock and photo.  Glitter gems are in the flower centers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  4. What a great page and that background is really killer. I love the way the paint splotched on the cardstock. I never thought to try to mist onto plastic that way and dip it in, but I suppose that would work similar to a craft mat (which I am admittedly too cheap to buy! LOL). Thanks for sharing your wonderful page. Great job and thanks for hanging out with the ARTastic ladies this month.
