Home and Scrapped March Sketch

Hello all!

We're practically buried with the (over a foot) of snow we received last night.

Hopefully the saying is true that snow late in the season helps melt the old snow.  Counting on that!

I am SO ready for Summer!  Forget Spring... that's only snowy weather around these parts... I want SUMMER!

Anyhow... here's a layout I completed for Home and Scrapped... and challenge site on FB.

This layout is titled, "Europe"

This was our view walking along the river at Bayeux France.  It was so beautiful and peaceful!

Gesso was used on the background.  The lines were created using a piece of cardstock dipped in Gesso.

The cluster of embellies on a tag.  Gold and white lace as well as twine was tied at the top of the tag.

A closer look at the background.  The Gesso was watered down to thin it out for the background.

The cluster of flowers.  I made a couple of them and added mists and Stickles for some shine.

A closer look.  Bling is under the flowers and "toned down" by rubbing some metallic watercolor on them.

Stickles really pop the flowers and make them sparkle!

A closer look at the tag.  Stamp stickers were added under the title.

A strip of lace was tucked under the right side of the photo with thin ribbon threaded through the holes.  And more lace was tucked under the pp.

A single flower and a gold glittery star are added above the tag.

I doubled this butterfly for more dimension.

Tic Tac Toe anyone??

Hello!

Remember the Tic Tac Toe game?  Wasn't it fun!

Well, this challenge at Soul Scrappers will no doubt be as fun!

A TTT board is provided with crafty words to challenge you to create outside the box.

All you have to do is choose a row (as in TTT) and get crafty!

You can see the challenge in it's entirety here.

This layout titled, "Breathe Deeply, Live Richly" was created choosing the row: Polka Dot Paper, Green, Two Pattern Papers.

This is my boy standing there admiring the views at the top of a mountain we climbed.

I love taking photos unaware of him.  They are the most natural looking pics.... and it's probably the only time I don't get a goofy face from him!

Here's the TTT board:

I added a little scrunching of the papers for dimension and added the word, "moments."

The edges of the photo were scraped using scissors.

The sub title was added using random words from a clear sticker sheet in my stash.

Washi tape goes across the center.

Two strips of washi tape were used on the left side of the page, just under the page title.

Love this title.... which I think fits so perfectly with the photo.

Song and Lyric Challenge

It's me again,

I will get these layout "caught up" eventually!

This challenge is called the Song and Lyric Challenge at Soul Scrappers.

A song title is provided as well as the lyrics.

Simply choose words to create your project.... such as the page title, versus, paragraphs, the whole song or words from the lyrics.

Did you know there are LOTS of words to choose from in a song?  

Hee hee.... who knew!

Anyhow, this is what I created titled, "Happiness."

I have always been intrigued by mixed media and enjoy checking out all the inspiration online.

I finally gave it a go... and really love how this turned out.

All the layers and distressing and did I mention layers?  

This is the group of new friends I made while visiting in North Carolina this past Fall.  What an awesome bunch!  It was a joy meeting them all!

And did I mention that my son's girlfriend's mom loves to shop?  Oh my!  Did we ever shop!!  :)

I remembered to check into my wood veneer shapes to add to my page.

I made the flowers... and misted them to blend into my page better.

Lots of misting with water and scrunching and distressing all the layers.

A hexagon shape was tucked under the layers.

The arrow was matted and distressed.  More hexagons were added in the upper left.

Another cluster of flowers that I created, with embellies tucked here and there.

Lots of misting as well.

The embroidery design was misted as well, before being tucked within the layers.

One of the butterflies was doubled up for more dimension.

Another swirly embroidery flowers was tucked just under the corner of the photo.

Random Word Challenge

Hello again,

Soul Scrappers has another awesome challenge for you!

It's called the Random Word Challenge.  A specific letter is chosen with a list of words beginning with that letter.  You have several to choose from, so creating your project is easier.  You can see all the info here.

The letter is "A"

I chose the word "Awesome" which also serves as my page title.

Just look at that beautiful view!  What more could you ask for?

Beautiful blue skies, and beautiful blue water to match, and check out the skyline... all the sand, and I especially loved the awesome weather!

These foam letters are so cool!  I added some bling underneath to emphasize the title with tiny flowers above and below it.

So, this is what I created, titled, "Be FREE To Be YOU"

My niece and I while vacationing in Miami this past summer.  What a blast we had!

This was the day planned for just my nieces and I.  And we spent most of our time shopping and checking out Miami South Beach.  I fell in love with it instantly!  The beautiful blue water, all the sand, walking along the shore and especially the HEAT!

While walking around all the shops, this strip of water was in the center with a small waterfall at one end.  It was so inviting.  My niece was like, "Hey, Aunt Polly, Let's take off our sandal go running through the water," (she had no idea I would actually do it).... and so we did.  So many laughs and memories made this day!  One of her friends took a video as well as this very fun and special photo of us.  :)
